The VU Future Leaders Scholarship (International) supports new international students who plan to commence their higher education diploma, undergraduate, or postgraduate (coursework) studies in 2021. The VU Future Leaders Scholarship (International) supports new international students who plan to commence their higher education diploma, undergraduate, or postgraduate (coursework) studies in 2021. Victoria University Scholarships for International Students is opened for suitable and qualified candidates.

Entry requirements for international students are as follows:

CERTIFICATES, DIPLOMAS & ADVANCED DIPLOMAS

Academic requirements are outlined on each certificate, diploma or advanced diploma course page. We will assess your eligibility when we receive your complete application.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS FOR CERTIFICATES, DIPLOMAS & ADVANCED DIPLOMAS

English language requirements are outlined on each certificate, diploma, or advanced diploma course page. Please check the details carefully as some courses have specific English language requirements. As a guide, for the majority of courses you will need to provide evidence that you have achieved one of the following levels of English language proficiency:

  • IELTS (Academic module): Overall score of 5.5 (no band less than 5.0)
  • TOEFL Internet: Overall score of 55. Section scores no less than:
    • Listening: 9
    • Speaking: 16
    • Reading: 10
    • Writing: 18
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE): Overall score of 42-49 (no section score less than 40)
  • University of Cambridge – Advanced (CAE): Overall score of 162. No individual band less than 154. 
  • VU English – English for Academic Purposes (EAP) (Level 4): achieved.

IELTS, TOEFL, PTE and CAE: These tests must be taken no more than two years prior to commencing your course. 

In some cases, we will accept test results from other methods of examination not listed above.

Victoria University Scholarships for International Students(Bachelor Degrees)

Entry into undergraduate courses (for example a bachelor degree) generally requires you to have completed a secondary school qualification equivalent to an Australian Year 12 certificate.

Check that your qualification meets the international academic entry requirements for a course.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS FOR BACHELOR DEGREES

You will need to provide evidence that you have achieved one of the following levels of English language proficiency:

  • IELTS (Academic module): Overall score of 6.0 (no band less than 6.0)
  • TOEFL Internet: Overall score of 67. Section score no less than:
    • Listening: 12
    • Speaking: 18
    • Reading: 15
    • Writing: 21
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE): Overall score of 50-57 (no section score less than 50)
  • University of Cambridge – Advanced (CAE): Overall score of 169. No individual band less than 169.
  • VU English – English for Academic Purposes (EAP) (Level 5): achieved.

IELTS, TOEFL, PTE and CAE: These tests must be taken no more than two years prior to commencing your course.

In some cases we will accept test results from other methods of examination not listed above.

University of Victoria Graduate Scholarships(Graduate Certificate & Graduate Diplomas)

Entry into a graduate certificate or graduate diploma generally requires you to have completed an undergraduate qualification that is comparable to an Australian bachelor degree.

Check that your qualification meets the international academic entry requirements for a course.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATE CERTIFICATES & GRADUATE DIPLOMAS

You will need to provide evidence that you have achieved one of the following levels of English language proficiency:

  • IELTS (Academic module): Overall score of 6.5 (no band less than 6.0)
  • TOEFL Internet: Overall score of 79. Section score no less than:
    • Listening: 19
    • Speaking: 19
    • Reading: 18
    • Writing: 22
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE): Overall score of 58-64 (no section score less than 50)
  • University of Cambridge – Advanced (CAE): Overall score of 176. No individual band less than 169.
  • VU English – English for Academic Purposes (EAP) (Level 6): Achieved.

Victoria University PGD scholarships(Research Programs)

Entry into a research program (postgraduate study) requires completion of:

  • an honours degree, or
  • a masters degree by coursework with a research component, or
  • an equivalent qualification from an approved university.

If you have a masters degree that did not include a research component, you may be eligible for our PhD (Integrated) program.

Check that your qualification meets the international academic entry requirements for a course.

We will assess your eligibility when we receive your complete international research degree application.

POSTGRADUATE ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

You will need to provide evidence have achieved the following levels of English language proficiency:

  • IELTS (academic module): Overall score of 6.5 (no band less than 6.0)
  • TOEFL Internet: Test score of 79. Section score no less than:
    • Listening: 19
    • Speaking: 19
    • Reading: 18
    • Writing: 22
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE): Overall score 58-64 (with no section score less than 50)

How to apply:

Students will be required to confirm that they wish to be considered for the scholarship at the time they submit their application for admission into an eligible VU qualification. Scholarship eligibility can only be assessed after the applicant has met the course entry requirements.
